It's Back! "This and That This Week"

Over a month ago, I started a new feature, “This and That This Week.” The funny thing is…I see SO many cool things during the week, I can’t narrow it down to just a few items. So…to jump back into “This Week,” here are a few things I found in the past few days:

Product I’d like to try – Aveeno Postively Nourishing 24-Hour Ultra-Hydrating Whipped Soufflé ($9.99 at Drugstore.com). I’m a fan of Aveeno products. In fact, I just changed my daily facial regimen from Avon Anew to the Aveeno Positively Ageless line. I usually add a body creme to my stash when the weather is colder, just to get some added moisture on really cold days.

Tip of the Week – Jeannie Mai, host of How Do I Look? on the Style Network, offers boot-finding tips for us wide-calf ladies in the October 1, 2011 edition of Woman’s Day magazine. Widewidths.com, Torrid.com and Silhouettes.com are all sites that carry boots that accommodate fuller calves. For $75, you can pick up a Boot Band (bootband.com), a leather insert that zips into any pair of tall boots and acts like a fabric extender.

Congratulations! – One of my favorite beauty bloggers, natural hair/makeup/YouTube guru, esthetician, and overall “friend-in-my-head,” Rachel O, celebrated her 100th blog post. Congratulations on a job well done! Read her post HERE.

New Blog Find – Party Over Hair – Please check out Elle, an enthusiastic natural hair blogger, who also has a new YouTube channel. You can also find her on Twitter and Facebook. She has a great must-read post Things You Should Know Before You Go Natural. Please go show her some love!

Great Blog Read – Black Girl With Long Hair (which would have made TTTW several weeks ago, had I been posting regularly!) featured a great post, which was actually a reprint of a 1969 article in Ebony magazine, The Natural Look – Is it Here to Stay?

Welcome Aboard! – Please help me welcome Jasmine Ratliff, who will be a regular contributor to This and That With Calandra. She has already shared two great posts with us, Confessions of a Former Afro-girl and We are Family…? We are looking forward to hearing much more from Jasmine in the near future. Welcome to TTWC! By the way, we are trying to come up with a name for Jasmine’s posts – please feel free to submit your suggestions.

Until next week…
